Gymtimidation
Let's discuss Gymtimidation - Yes it's a thing!
Up to 50% of people avoid training in vicinities where they feel they will be surrounded by fitness fanatics (such as gyms, leisure centres, boutiques) and 30% of people feel intimidated when exercising in front of the opposite sex.

As a gym newbie, It can be quite daunting when stepping through those gym doors for the first time, wondering what to do, which equipment to use and how to use them effectively. You may start to worry about your form, technique if you're exercising correctly and if others are watching you.
... (Which in most cases they're not) that's just anxiety trying to creep it's way in.

It's normal to feel a sense of mild panic when in a new environment but the worse thing you could possibly do when going to a gym is to compare yourself to others. You are who you are, everyone has had to start somewhere and besides every member has their own unique reason for attending a gym.

For me the gym is my haven, the place where I can lose myself for a few hours and go into my own little bubble - I guess you can say that it's my home away from home.

My advice would be to keep an open mind, get to know other members, gym staff, instructors and when you start to feel more confident take full advantage of the classes on offer.
Focus on you, your goals and the reason why you decided to start your fitness journey.

It may be useful to go in with a plan, it doesn't have to be complicated and whilst you're at it... create an amazing playlist to workout to.
Trust me when I say... there's nothing better than putting on your headphones and zoning out from the world.
It's very therapeutic if you ask me.

Lastly don't ever feel afraid to ask for help, you are not alone. You can expect to be welcomed in to your local gym with open arms.
Gyms are not so scary when you let go of fear
